Energy management and charging infrastructure at the Weeber Calw car dealership
Initial situation
The Weeber car dealership in Calw stands for modern mobility and is a competent partner for all things related to Škoda, Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, and Audi vehicles. In addition to selling new and used cars, the location also offers comprehensive services, repairs, motorhome offers, and solutions in the field of electromobility. The site is also home to Waldbike, a manufacturer of sustainable e-bikes.
As part of the site’s energy modernization, the heating system was replaced and a 210 kWp photovoltaic system was installed. The aim was to increase the building’s energy efficiency, maximize its own consumption of solar power, and set the course for a sustainable charging infrastructure.
Measures implemented by enisyst
1. Active energy management
enisyst has introduced an intelligent energy management system that records and optimizes all essential energy flows in the building.
- Monitoring and control of electricity, heating, and cooling generation• Prioritization of the PV system’s own consumption
- Visualization and analysis of energy consumption and monitoring of water consumption
- Dynamic control of heating elements to utilize surplus PV energy
2. Heating and cooling systems
The building was equipped with modern heat pumps, which are optimally controlled by the enisyst system:
- Exhibition: Air-to-air heat pumps with a total output of 141 kW for heating and cooling.
→ Decentralized control via the enisyst system. - Workshop and warehouse: Air-to-water heat pumps in cascade connection with a total output of 48 kW.
→ Control of the heating circuits and the 3-way valve by enisyst for efficient use of the buffer storage tanks.
3. Charging infrastructure
enisyst supported the development of the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles:
- Installation of an initial 11 kW wallbox as a starting point for expansion.
- Preparation for future company and customer charging stations.
- Integration into energy management for grid-friendly control.
- Integration of a DC charging station into the overall system.
